Title:whether chlorophyll will affect plants to photosynthesis
Aim:To find out whether chlorophyll is necessary for photosynthesis.
Hypothesis:Plants need chlorophyll for photosynthesis.
To find out whether chlorophyll is needed for plants to photosynthesis.I will take two different colour of leaves for the test.one of the leaf being a green leaf and another being another type of leaf that does not contain chlorophyll . As one of the plant went through photosynthesis. When I add the iodine solution to it. It will turn into dark black to show that starch is present and photosynthesis has taken place. The relationship between both leaves is that if both plant turn into dark black it shows that chlorophyll is not necessary for plants to photosynthesis. However if only the green leaf turn into dark black, it shows that chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis to take place.
The independent variables are the two different collies of leaves And dependent variables are whether the leaves will turn black. For the experiment to be a fair test I will take both leaf from the same plant but different part of it. And I will boil both leaf together.
Step 1:Prepare a hot water bath
Step 2:Boil 1 leaf in hot water about 2-3 minutes.
Step 3:After boiling the leafdry it.
Step 4:Place the leaves on a white tile and drop few drop of iodine solution into both leaves.
Step 5:Take a new green leaf out and put both leaf until den light for photosynthesis 10mins
Step 6:Record down the result. Whether both leaves turn dark blue or only green leaf.
My opinion: you should add the step " put drops of alcohol" alcohol removes the cholorophyll from the plant. By doing that it further enhance the accuracy of your results
ReplyDeleteMy opinion: The leafs must be of the same size and in the process give a much more accurate result
ReplyDeleteya.i added alcohol at the test and the both leaves i have place them in a dark room for 2days to make sure it does not have starch remain at the leaves then i do the test.
